This Crispy Sesame Chicken recipe sure beats the one we order in the restaurant. Its crispy and sweet-savory sesame flavor is very addictive, in a good way!

Crispy Sesame Chicken

 1 cup all purpose flour
 ¼ cup cornstarch
 ½ tsp garlic powder
 2 eggs
extra virgin olive oil or vegetable oil, enough to have 1 to 2 inches in the pan
1 ½ lbs. boneless skinless chicken thigh, cut into bite-sized pieces
salt and fresh ground pepper, to taste
 sesame seeds, for garnishing
1 spring/green onion, chopped, for garnishing
Sauce:
 2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
 2 cloves garlic, grated
 ¼ cup brown sugar
 ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
 ¼ tbsp hoisin sauce
 2 tbsp sesame oil
1

Place the eggs in a separate bowl, whisk with salt and pepper.

2

In another bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

3

In a large frying pan, heat the oil on medium-high.

4

Season the chicken with salt and pepper.

5

Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture and then into the flour.

6

Add the chicken into the pan, do not overcrowd. Cook one side then flip to the other side, cook until golden brown and crispy, roughly around 5 to 7 minutes. Depending on how large your pan, you might do 2 to 3 batches. Set aside the cooked crispy fried chicken.

7

While the chicken is cooking, combine all the sauce ingredients in a medium bowl. Set aside.

8

After cooking all the chicken, remove all the extra oil from the pan, and then quickly clean with paper towel or clean kitchen towel.

9

Add the sauce mixture into the pan, let it boil for a minute or two or until bubbly. Stirring occasionally.

10

Add the cooked crispy chicken and stir for a minute to incorporate the sauce.

11

Top with sesame seeds and green onions.
